be your Own kind of Magical

Sometimes, I think I have to wait to write to you -
wait until I have a profound statement, a revelation, a funny story.
I think I have to pretend like life is a little bit magical,
a little bit cute, a little bit satisfying
all.the.time.

But lets be honest -
life is snow boots, because they're easy to put on at 6:30 in the morning,
messy buns so I don't have to wash my hair,
and a little bit of frustration because I did this
whole routine yesterday too.

Life is hand written notes,
black pen on lined notebook paper,
"motivation = passion"
because I don't want to ever forget,
first and foremost: love what I do.

Life is knowing I'm better at being myself today,
than I was a year ago,
still imperfect
and a tiny bit of a mess,
but most surely in the process of improving.

and maybe that's its own kind of magical

365 @ CP!

Today, I have been at Cardinal Place for 1 whole year!!

I was so nervous when I started, there was about a billion kids' names to learn and how was I gonna remember everything and how do you make them all listen??

But it's been great, the best part about being in Willmar actually - I have some my closest friends here because of this job and a reason to smile every day.

here's a high five to awesome jobs. !

New Cuteness

Last Friday I got my super cute laptop bag!
I was hoping for something non-bulky, but with enough space for a few extra items--
but everything I found was either boring or an obnoxious explosion of color.
Thankfully, my mom doesn't give up easily,
and she found me this one =)
Me love.

and the back...!

I like:

  • friends, the kind you spend three hours with, barely pausing, because there's just so much to laugh about
  • getting asked to be a bridesmaid =)
  • lazy saturdays in a coffee shop
  • this kind of a weather in January (a.mazing!)
  • pinteresting. and no, that's not a real word..

between verse & note

An unexpected Christmas gift, mentioned once in passing –

a little wish, so long in coming, I’d forgotten wanting it.

“the Valley” by Eisley

plays constantly these days,

as I get ready in the morning, while I read, and even whispering when I wake in the morning

Their lyrics this time around are full of lilting heartbreak, gasping pain, but also {beautifully so} threaded with strength and hope

I love the assurance to be found in music –

the knowledge woven between verse and note:

you are not the first to be where you are now
you are not alone

the end is Beginning

It’s good to be back, in my own little place, with its abundance of turquoise and photographs.

I like the 3 hours between here and Sioux Falls, filled with words and thoughts and plans. Somehow my brother and I always understand each other most in those hours than anytime else.

Back to class on Monday! - my very last semester, which is overwhelming and exciting all at the same time. I’ve been scheming up ideas for photo shoots and I’m anxious to get started. Pretty, pretty images floating round in my mind =)

I keep wondering what I’m going to do with my life after school and I still haven’t come to a conclusion…which is okay I suppose, I still have some time, it’s just interesting walking a line between practicality and dreams.

I never want to be afraid to dream big, but bills are bills, you know?

The good thing is, dreams don’t expire. In time friends, in time.
